BACKGROUND
You recently attended for a health check up. You have been told you are at risk of malnourishment but you are not sure what that means.
LIFESTYLE
• DIET: You skip most meals as you can’t afford to spend much. When you get very hungry, you sometimes go to restaurants and try to wait for people to leave so you can eat their leftovers, but you have been caught doing this and have been thrown out several times.
• EXERCISE: You do not exercise – you do not have time as you are busy with your apprenticeship
• STRESS: To help with stress, you gamble online. Because of your gambling, you struggle to pay for food.
• READINESS TO CHANGE: If misconceptions are addressed, and suitable solutions offered/ elicited from the patient, the patient is willing to change. An alternative method to deal with stress should be mentioned for the patient to be happy.
OTHER HISTORY
No past medical history.
No relevant drug history.
No relevant family history.
No allergies.
Occupation: Completing an accounting apprenticeship.
You do not smoke.
You do not drink alcohol or engage with recreational drugs.
QUESTIONS TO ASK:
-
Isn’t it healthy to be skinny?
-
What will happen if I don’t change?
-
It would take me a while to get access to food as I don’t get paid for a while. Is there anything I can do in the meantime?
