Mr John Nevada, a 20-year-old patient with moderate asthma, has come to you to ask how to use his peak flow meter properly.
Your task is to counsel Mr Nevada on his peak flow meter technique.
You DO NOT need to discuss the patient's history or current management plan.
You have 8 minutes.
You are Mr John Nevada, a 20-year-old patient with moderate asthma.
You have recently been prescribed preventer and reliever inhalers, and have now been asked to record some peak flow readings on a peak flow meter. You are unsure of how to use it and what your readings mean.
Opening statement: 'I was wondering if you could show me how to use this peak flow meter properly.'
If asked about purpose: 'Why do I need to record reading? Sounds like a hassle.'
If the student gives unclear instructions, ask: 'Can you show me again?' or 'How often should I use it?'
Achieving at least 50% OR missing specific required marks.
