Summary Beginner

In this scenario, a prescribing pharmacist on a paediatric assessment unit clinically checks the inpatient drug chart of a 6-year-old boy with acute otitis media, a perforated tympanic membrane and otorrhoea.

The student must take a focused history from the child's mother, review the chart against current NICE and BNF for Children guidance, act on any discrepancy, and answer the parent's questions.
