In this scenario, a community pharmacist clinically checks a repeat prescription for lithium carbonate for a patient with bipolar disorder. The check uses the patient's medication record and his lithium monitoring record book.

The student must review the prescription and monitoring results and identify the problems with the patient's monitoring and the prescription. They then speak to the prescriber by telephone, explain the issues, and agree a safe plan so the patient can continue treatment.

You will need a student pharmacist and an actor playing the prescriber for this scenario.
